Help
Find roads, plan rides, and share what you discover. The same guide is in the app under Account › Help and how-to.
Quick start
- Allow location access to see your position and nearby roads.
- Choose your rider type in Account for relevant road ratings.
- Open the Map and tap a road to see its rating.
- On Home, tap a road condition to rate the road you're riding.
- In Adventure, choose a distance and road types, then tap Find Routes.
Road conditions
Ratings show road surface and riding difficulty.
- Too Many Cars
- Pavement
- Quiet Pavement
- Gravel
- Rough Gravel
- Chunky
- Mountain Bike
- Hiking Trail
Too Many Cars and Hiking Trail are roads to avoid. Ratings are rider reports, not guarantees. Check access and conditions before riding.
Markers
Save places as markers from Home or the Map: Favorite, Muddy Spot, Hike-A-Bike, Bathroom, Food, Water Crossing and Photo.
Recording a ride
- Tap Start on Home to record. The riding screen shows your road and road mix, key stats, and Map, Elev, Terrain, Stats and Graphs. Pause, Stop and Add marker are always available.
- Hold Pause or Stop to activate it. Tap Resume to continue your ride.
- Heart rate, power and cadence come from Apple Health. Pair sensors with Apple Watch and record a cycling workout to include power or cadence in your ride and exports.
- You'll get an alert when you ride onto an unrated road.
- Check ride status on your lock screen. If it's unavailable, reopen the app.
After your ride
- Your ride summary includes road types, stats, elevation, climbs, and All Ride Data & Graphs.
- Roads that still need a rating are listed at the top. Tap Review Roads to step through them on one screen: rate each road, mark it No Ride, delete a bad line, remove a duplicate, or exclude an area like your street.
- Save, edit, export or discard your ride. Save Ride File exports FIT, TCX or GPX with sensor data.
- Connect Strava in Account to upload rides, or turn on automatic upload.
The map
- Tap a road to see its rating, or tap the pencil to edit.
- Ratings for unrated roads are shared with everyone. Your rating on a rated road is personal until riders agree on a change.
- Choose Paint Ratings while editing, pick a category, tap roads to rate them, then tap Done.
- Use Add to Map for markers, or Create Segments to draw roads.
- Select roads to see their combined elevation. Tap the ruler to measure distance.
- To flag restricted access, choose Mark No Ride in a road's Details. No Ride roads are left out of suggested routes.
Planning a route
- Use Adventure to plan a loop or choose a different finish.
- Choose a distance and road types, then tap Find Routes.
- Tap a result to view it, or compare routes on the map.
- Choose Edit Selected Route to Reshape, Avoid, Must Ride, or move the Start or Finish.
- Share a route as GPX, or tap Load This Route to follow it.
- Import GPX, FIT or TCX files from Home (Import › Load a Route or Ride), or open them from Files or Mail.
Saved routes
- Select a planned route and tap Save to Route Library. Name it and choose who can see it.
- Browse routes in Adventure › Library. Filter by distance, terrain, climbing or start location.
- An internet connection is needed to save, browse or load library routes.
Riding with a group
- Open Group to create an activity or join with an invite code. Joining shares your location and speed; only share codes with people you trust.
- The host can share a saved route. Members can view it and tap Load Route for Navigation.
- Turn on Share my heart rate to share current readings during a recorded ride.
- Sharing pauses when the app is closed or offline. Leave Activity to stop sharing.
Offline use
- Nearby roads are saved on your phone for offline maps.
- Changes sync automatically. Tap Sync on Home to sync sooner.
